EOC - Features

We have 2 Orion servers that we manage. It would handy to be able to merge them onto 1 console.

I just want to confirm a few things before we take the plunge. With EOC you cannot manage nodes, acknowledge alerts, etc.

It is only a view that allows you to drill down into ?

Minimum polling time is also 5 minutes ?

When you add a SolarWinds server to be monitored by EOC you can set the polling interval, or adjust it after by going to 'Settings\Manage SolarWinds Servers'. The default is 300 seconds (5 minutes). I would not recommend making it less as EOC puts a heavy load on the Pollers when it pulls the data. Be sure to check the performance of the individual SolarWinds servers and their websites as you adjust the polling intervals, and of course the data flow between sites.

Think of EOC as a window into your remote instances of Orion. When you click on any link in the main EOC console, it will take you to that instance, as the user that EOC is syncing with (if the relevant access to the remote Orion Web Console is in place from the network your EOC server is on). So, if your sync user has any elevated privileges (not recommended by the way), then when you click the link, you will be taken to that Orion instance, as that user, with those privileges. You can see this when you view the SolarWinds EOC demo environment. When you click on one of the links, look at the URL, it's no longer looking at the EOC URL, but the URL for the main Orion demo site, for the node you clicked on, as Orion user 'EOC#'.

However, from the main EOC console itself, you cannot do anything other than view the combined resources, showing information from all your Orion nodes.
