RFE: TFTP Server - Run As Service
iunderwo
The TFTP server that SW produces is really the best one I've ever used on the Windows platform.
That said, I'd like to know how (or see it made as an option in the program) to make this program run as a Windows Service. I'd like to run this all the time on our server without having to log into it first and then run the application.
Ideas?

Here here I find it frustrating trying to run a script in Cirrus overnight that requires TFTP and remeber to start the TFTP server, it would be great if it could be upgraded to run as a service then I wouldn't have to worry.
Thanks

We are currently considering the following enhancements to TFTP server in the next release planned for first half of 2007:
1) Blocksize option (RFC 2347, 2348)
2) Transfer size, and timeout options (RFC 2349)
3) Run as service
We'd love to get your feedback on relative priority of these features.
Thanks,

My priority would be:-
Run as service
Timeout
Block size

Run as service would be very useful. We currently use the old Win NT support program which allows you to create a service and run TFTP server using that.
Its called srvany and the KB article is here:
support.microsoft.com/.../137890
Hope this helps in the meantime.

Hi,
I've tried running as a service by using the Microsoft tools and instructions but when I do, it cant seem to find any files.
When I run directly and try to get a file, it transfers fine and the log reports
23/02/2007 11:02 :Sent sipDefault.cnf to (10.210.14.201), 3723 bytes
However, when I run as a service, the file download fails and the log reports
23/02/2007 11:22 :TFTP Error from 10.210.11.91 requesting sipDefault.cnf : File does not exist
Do I need to configure a run directory?
I tried to put a file to see where it would go but that also failed
Phil.

Panic over - just realised the problem is that I am using a network mapped drive

Hi All, I agree. I would like to see this run as a Windows service. In the mean time, I am using a script to call this prior to running an application that needs the server. I do this in order to guarentee that the server is running while my application is running. Can someone tell me how to close the server when my application is done ? Or, could you add a feature to disable or timeout the popup that says "TFTP Server Already open". That way, my script won't cause my operators to panic when they see this as an error message the second time they run the application. Thanks.
