Alert from Hardware Sensor

I just upgraded to NPM 10.4 and now I have hardware heath monitors on many cisco and Nexus devices. My question is when setting up an alert for these should I use apm hardware sensor status as the trigger. These are hardware sensors that are in NPM nodes not APM.

You can use Hardware Sensor under 'Property to Monitor'.

Here is one I have used for Temperature. The values are in Celsius.

I would like to be able to alert when the status is anything other than

Normal. This is the status that is displayed in current hardware health

for the node. I have set the alert trigger to "hardware sensor status is

not equal to Normal". This doesn't seem to be working. I am getting the

alert triggered constantly. I don't think it is reading the status Normal.

Normal is not one of the choices in the drop down of the alert trigger. I

had to type Normal in.

I believe the answer for what I am trying to do is to use "Original Status" is not equal to Normal. I believe Original status is what is reported from the device itself

Yes, if you are looking for the value of Original Status then not equal to Normal is correct. If you want to trigger on Status then "not equal to UP" is what you want to use.
