Alerting on an interface within a group, is it possible?

Afternoon all..

I have a group set up with just our WAN interfaces..

I want to alert on this group for any member interface that rx or tx is higher than 80%.

I have been playing with the alert manager but cant seem to write the alert conditions successfully.

I can find the correct trigger alerts but they appear in different 'Type of Property to Monitor:' And from what I have found you cant mix properties in a single alert. You can either monitor a group or interface, not an interface within a group..

I want to alert on the below:

If interface is a member of group 'WAN interfaces'

And is either rx or tx higher than 80%

I can easly set up an alert to warn me of a busy link, but this will be network wide and not just for the WAN interfaces group..

Am I missing something obvious here?

The groups are very handy, but they haven't supplanted the custom properties entirely. What you need here is an interface custom property of type yes/no. Once you've created that, you can flag whatever interfaces you're using for WAN traffic and then the alert condition is easier when you're referencing the interface custom property named wan is equal to yes.
