Is it possible to include the field value in the web URL for that field in Orion Report Writer?

I have created a custom report that gives the total number of certain Cisco cards in use on the network. I would like to make each card type in this report a link to another more detailed report for that card type. How can I use the field value in the web URL for the field?

You can use some "variables" like {NodeID} or {ApplicationID} which are based off of table names. If you take a look at some of the Node alerts you'll see how this is done. Unfortunately, it might be tricky to get reports created and linked to properly for each node.

You'd want to have a standard naming convention for these node reports....
"Report - Historical - Cisco <device-model> 30 day"

Then try something like this for the URL field:

www.path.to/.../Report_-_Historical_-_Cisco-{Model}_30_day.html

You'll want to look at the actual URL of some of these reports as I'm just putting that together from memory, but I think you get the gist there.

I figured it out. All I had to do was use the sql column name ${ColumnName} in the url and report writer translated it correctly.

How can I tell which variables will and won't work for this? I'm trying to use a custom property in a hardware error report to link the user to the vendor's website. Is there a better way to go about this?

A custom property would be a great way to present a link to a vendors website, and is something I have done in the past. Setup a custom property call "Vendors_WWW" and put the link for each node in that field.
