Serv-U, multiple products or just one?

I am completely new to the Serv-U product but am looking at it as a possible solution for a new service. What I am finding confusing is that it looks like a single product on the SolarWinds site; however, when I read about it in documents it comes across as multiple products (Serve-U FTP, Serve-U MFT, Serve-U Gateway). Is this just one single product with different parts or are these actually different products?

The Serv-U pricing page (http://www.serv-u.com/pricing.asp) might be the best place to answer your question. Long story short:

"Serv-U FTP Server" and "Serv-U MFT Server" are two different editions of the same software. You use a license code to select one or the other. (The "MFT" edition has more features.)
"Serv-U Gateway" is a separate piece of software you install on another machine. Serv-U Gateway is almost always installed in your DMZ so you don't have to deploy Serv-U MFT Server in your DMZ. (Serv-U Gateway can but is only rarely used with Serv-U FTP Server!)

Thanks, that was a huge help. Is the Gateway a separate license or is it included with the MFT product?

The Gateway is a separate license. There is a pricing calculator on the Serv-U site that should be able to help you estimate license costs.

Ok, getting closer. When you add the Gateway, does that only add one or does that let you run as many as you want? As a side note, the way the licensing is laid out here is incredibly confusing; I would much prefer to have a single menu of all my options and what the cost of each of those items is.
