Orion 8.0.1 is available for download

We have now released Orion 8.0.1. This service release fixes several problems with the Custom Poller and a problem with performance of the web console.

Is it possible for SW to email its customers when an update is available? I only stumbled on this because I was on the site looking for something else.

The most one is that custom mib poller problem is fixed.I think the next step for the developers is the performance issue when edit custom mib poller in browsing node/interface and oid which cause the system manager a littlt long time to wait for loading data.

V8.0.1 makes a HUGE improvement in the editing of custom mib poller response time. Still not as fast as it should be but a BIG improvement when you have several thousand node elements.

Do I first have to get 8.0 installed before applying 8.0.1??

I didnt see anything in the release notes about a fix for the alert emails that go out with the incorrect From: address (www4.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp. This is the only issue that is keeping me from upgrading the v8 at this time.

You do not need to install 8.0.0 first. You can upgrade from 7.8.5 to 8.0.1.

The "from" email issue was not addressed in 8.0.1. We plan to address it in a future service release, but I do not have a confirmed date for it yet.

I don't know of any specific problems. We tested against 7.8.5--the latest release--rather than 7.8.2, so if you are concerned, you may want to upgrade to 7.8.5 first.
