The SAM use wmi to monitor it normally, But it's base in linux.
I'm not all that familiar with NetBackup appliances. Have you conducted a MIB walk of the device or contacted their support department to determine what type of information is exposed via SNMP or other mechanisms? Is there a virtual appliance equivalent that could be downloaded and played with by engineering to develop an application template?
There is a MIB file. I just completed an intro to Netbackup that is being implemented in my employer's environment. The consultants are going to give me the MIB to import into Solarwinds. I told them that I would probably set up a UnDP config to monitor those devices.
If Solarwinds Engineering is willing to take a crack at it, I can share the MIBs and would happy to work with them on building a SAM template for SLW.
If you open a support ticket with the MIB file provided by the vendor, Solarwinds will add it to the MIB database. This process is fairly quick and you can download the updated database as soon as this is done. I did the same thing and support had the MIB database updated within 3 days for me to download. This way the MIB will be available for all users who might want to monitor NetBackup Appliances.
My vendor disappeared from my radar, I'm sure they'll come back later. I'll get the MIB then.
