I was wondering if there is a way to bulk remove 'Asset Inventory" from VM servers where it is unnecessary to have it enabled in SAM 6.0.1
It's not currently possible to disable Asset Inventory en masse through the Orion web interface. It is however relatively straightforward to identify which VMware guests have Asset Inventory enabled using the built-in General Asset Inventory report.
Asset Inventory still provides quite a bit of value for virtual machines, such as Software Inventory, Windows Updates installed, OS version, Service Pack level, Timezone, Firewall Status, Domain Role, Windows Update Configuration, OS Architecture, OS Language, etc. This information is polled only once a day, which means it adds virtually zero overhead to your poller. Also, enabling Asset Inventory on each host only adds roughly 100k of data to the database. So I'm not sure what benefit there would be to selectively disabling Asset Inventory for selected hosts.
