Creating specific view for specific needs

Hi Everyone, I'd like to create a view for my manager to be able see only the servers under is responsibility.

We want to see only those servers, not others on the network.

We want to see alerts when we drill onto a specific server (whether red or green) but also see hardware alerts on the page.

Is there a way to be choosy, such as seeing certain groups of servers (all displayed) in the columns?

Can I create these "resources:, so I can choose them in setting up the view?

Hi, Cheryl.

It sounds like what you'll want to do is figure out what existing resources you want your manager to see, and then create a view with a filtered version of those resources so he only sees the nodes he's interested in.

After you figure out what resources you want to use:

1. In the EOC web console, click Settings.
2. In the Views & Menu Bars section, click Add New View.
3. On the Edit Details tab, enter a name and descriptions for your manager's view.
4. If you want to add the view to a menu bar, select Add to menu bar, and then select the menu bar you want to add it to.
5. On the Resources tab, complete these steps for each resource you want your manager to see:
   1. Select the resource in the left pane.
   2. In the right pane, apply the filters to determine what your manager sees. For additional information, see Filtering and Grouping Data in Resources.
   3. At the bottom of the right pane, click Add, and then select the column you want to add the resource to.
6. If you want to customize the layout of the new view, click the Layout & Preview tab, and then specify your layout preferences.
7. Click OK, Save Changes.

After you have created your new view, you can create a custom menu bar for your manager (and others in a similar user role), or just provide the URL for the view.

To figure out the URL for a custom view:

1. In the EOC web console, click Settings.
2. In the Views & Menu Bars section, click Manage Views.
3. Select your view, and then click Edit View.
4. In the address bar, note the 4-digit ID at the end of the URL. That's the view ID of the selected view.
5. Replace the view ID for your view in the default Home view URL: http://localhost/Default.aspx?viewId=1001.
