Collecting mapped drives through Inventory in Patch Manager, possible?

My manager just tasked me with trying to update the inventory options in Patch Manager to include mapped drives on the domain machines. From my initial analysis, it doesn't appear that is an option, either in the existing reports/inventory options, or by trying to read the registry (since Microsoft puts that in HKCU and that is not an option in the Inventory settings).

My searches so far have turned up nothing. Does anyone know is that possible in Patch Manager somehow?

I don't believe so. The mapped drives are associated with a user login session, and wouldn't be seen to a service account or a WMI query.

Thanks, I was hoping there would be some kind of simple workaround, but no such luck.

I'm looking in to some kind of scripting or scheduled task to run on the machines periodically to create registry keys in an area that can be done in the inventory, but it's not going to be a simple solution.

I know of two possible ways to do this. There may be more. I used PowerShell, but I'm sure you could work out something else if needed.

Get-WmiObject -Query "SELECT Caption, ProviderName FROM Win32_MappedLogicalDisk" | Select-Object @{ Name = 'DriveLetter'; Expression = { $_.Caption } }, @{ Name = 'NetworkPath'; Expression = { $_.ProviderName } }

Get-ChildItem -Path "HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2\*" | Where-Object { $_.Name -like "*##*" } | ForEach-Object { ( Split-Path -Path $_.Name -Leaf ).Replace("#", "\") }

The benefit of the first option is that you get both the Drive Letter and the Network Path. The second only gives you the network path.

Thanks. I had found some similar options in my searches so far. It looks like I'll be doing something like this in the scripting, most likely.
