I am working on trying to filter out alerts that we have configured. For my servers I have a general All Nodes Disk Space alert that is set to watch all objects in my environment and send out an alert when a drive space hits over 80%. In addition to that alert I have additional alerts setup for the different groups in my organization and the servers that belong to them. That alert is say Group 3 Disk Space. For the Group 3 Disk space I have conditions setup to check if the the node name contains "group" and "3" and if it does send an alert if the disk space for any of those servers go to group3@email.com. Both alerts work just fine so Group 3 gets an email and there also is a general email that goes to the IT department. But there also is the All Nodes Disk Space alert that defaults to the IT department as well so we get 2 emails for the same item.
What I was thinking about doing is to the All Nodes Disk Space alert and configuring it to alert on Only following set of objects - and adding Node> Node Name > does not contain > Group3. Would this filter out the Group3 servers from the All Nodes Disk Space alert? I think it would but jut looking for some thoughts from additional people. If this indeed does work I was thinking about changing it to an OR statement so I can filter out other groups of servers.
Thanks and let me know if this makes sense or need more information. Also these are not the actual group names I changed them so our live names are not out on the internet.
