Interface Bandwidth and Traffic utilization for last month

Hi rschroeder​,

I have one obervation while generating interface traffic report and looking for a Bandwidth utilization report in excel (raw data) for last month, with Min/Max/Avg fields. I could get it via Chart, but I need them in Excel.

When I was trying to get the traffic with min/max/avg fields, I could get them using Traiffic history in an excel sheet. I have a CP in Nodes, which tells me to use the Firewall devices, interfaces only needed in the report.

But, when I used report with Interface and used the node CP, it did not generate the report. Luckily I had "FW-1" in the name of the device and could get the report. In some reports, we could use node CP with some other table and get the report at node level, but not sure, why we are not getting at the interface level.

I did not see any history available for interface bandwidth. Could you please guide/help me to get the raw data for bandwidth utilization in the same way I have got for Traffic. Quick response would be much appreciated.

Here are a few ideas for you to consider:

• If you have correctly configured your firewall with a read-only community string, AND if you have allowed your Solarwinds NPM poller to poll it (via firewall rules allowing snmp polling to come from the polling engine's IP address), then you should have historical data recorded for each active interface.  If you don't see that data, there are a few very-basic configuration areas you can consider reviewing:
  • Verify snmp polling is allowed on the firewall
  • Verify the firewall is configured to allow your particular poller to access it
  • Confirm the firewall's read-only community string is correctly configured in NPM
  • Verify NPM is set to monitor the active interfaces on the firewall
  • Confirm NPM is set up to display the data from the active interfaces
  • Ensure NPM is using the advanced options to poll Cisco ASA firewalls (if your firewall is an ASA), and that the APE successfully can pass the ASA credentials test
• Go to the left-hand "edit" column for the firewall in NPM and click the "Network" icon
  • In the view called "Traffic & Percent Utilization of Each Interface", click the hot link for an active port in the Interface column.  This should present you with graphed data as in this example:

• • Click anywhere on the graph to open a new window that allows customization of the chart.  Look in the lower right for the two buttons called "Raw Data" and "Chart Data".

The "Raw Data should be presented in a spreadsheet like this:
