cannot add new users to EOC

I am having difficulty adding a new user to the EOC web console.

I have four VMWare servers. Three ahve Orion installed, while the other has a trial of EOC installed. I do not have a Windows domain set up.

I created some Windows users accounts on each Orion server, but EOC is unable to see them when I try to add them as users. I enter the name to search for, the name of the server and the credentials to log into the local server, but I get no response.

Am I missing something?

You shouldn't create Windows users accounts on the Orion server. Use regular Orion accounts. Without a domain, you'll need to create a Windows account on the EOC box. For each user on each Orion, you'll need to specify the Orion account.

Thanks, Denny, that worked. Let me see if I understand why it worked.

I had already created the Orion NPM user accounts on each Orion NPM server. What I don't understand is why I had to create a Windows account on the EOC server in order to be able to create an EOC user account of the same name.

Am I at least being clear on what confuses me?

Yes. Think of like this: EOC will access each Orion web console on behalf of the user.

Orion accounts are stored in the DB and know nothing about Active Director or Windows. EOC doesn't do that. It leverages Windows and AD accounts for permissions. We will add the EOC approach to Orion in a future release.

I had to move EOC off of my NCM server due to incompatability issues with the 2 apps.. regardless, I have EOC up on a new server NOT on the domain. My four (4) NPM servers are on a domain. When I tried to add the NPM servers in EOC with the WEB login credentials they failed. I can ping, RDP, etc. to each NPM server from the new EOC no problems. I'm confused on this thread about creating a 'windows' account on my new EOC server (Non-domain) past the local admin that I setup on the server to install EOC/SQL, etc. I created a local user on the EOC (orion01 I named it), and was able to add in that user for web EOC access.

What does that mean 'linked' ??? I have to create a new account on my NPM01(first NPM server) with an orion01 account (EOC account) ? Web account ? Windows account ?
