When should I employ EOC?

I was just curious as to what factors determine when one might need to install and use EOC?

Is it the number of polling engines reporting to a single DB server?

Is it the performance across WAN connections in a distributed network?

Is it a combination of those and other factors?

In other words, what factors would drive a company to employ more than one Orion installation and by extension, the EOC to monitor them?
