Monitoring Citrix Presentation server 4.0 and XenApp 5.0

Hi all,

first post, hoping for some help regarding Citrix monitoring using APM. We have a server farm running Citrix Presentation version 4.0 and we have enabled the XenApp 5.0 core WMI counters/ICA sessions & Presentation server app monitors to a small selection of our Citrix servers hoping for some detail on usage etc.

The APM components assign with no immediate problems however over time we see our monitors flap for the servers we have selected to be monitored. Now we don't know and are unsure if what we are doing is correct, judging by the version support. However we do get statistical information and the monitors do recover (15 minute periods of downtime for the monitors!?).

Can someone advise if this is a compatibility issue or do we potentially have a problem that requires deeper investigation?

Hi Martin,

thanks for the reply however its difficult for us to share log data due to our customers restriction levels. I have managed to obtain some enhanced WMI troubleshooting steps from a supplier so hopefully this will help highlight if we have a problem. The question I raised was really to ascertain if this is normal behaviour using the Xenapp release on other versions of Citrix.
