What happened to the view file ability from previous versions of FTP Voyager, the place where you could get a word pad file to edit and easily uplaod it back to the server?

This is still supported - to do this, right click the file you want to edit and click "Open" (or just double click on the file). It will open the file in your default editor for that file extension. You can go a step further and specify custom editors for specific file extensions by going to "Tools | Options | Alternate Editors" and adding specific extensions and specific programs to open them.
