The process of discovering SLA capable nodes in the Core database using VNQM seems a little clunky to me. A couple of questions if you please.
I know that a node must a) already be in the Core database, and b) have a RW string assigned to it. However, since a CLI credential will also be required before an SLA operation can be configured on the node, and there is no way to assign a CLI credential to a Core node BEFORE SLA discovery, one will be forced to manually edit each SLA node after the fact and add the CLI credential. This would be extremely painful for several hundred routers!
Have I missed something here? It seems that you get one chance to run the discovery process and then you are forced to manually edit SLA nodes to add a required element (the CLI credential). And there is no way to multi-edit the SLA nodes.
Do I have any of this wrong? If not, is SolarWinds addressing this hole in the administrative capability of VNQM?
Thank you.
