SOAP web service monitor type. - Feature request

We are in the process of migrating from SiteScope to IPMonitor version 9. SiteScope has a monitor type for SOAP based web service calls. I'm familar with ASMX type calls which can have querystring parameters. The type of SOAP services are related to IBM Websphere. Has anyone found a monitor or workaround for this type of situation?

I was instructed to ask for a feature request for ipMonitor. I wanted to request a new module for supporting SOAP requests. This would be different than an normal HTTP requests. We are migrating from SiteScope to ipMonitor. We have dozens of monitors currently that make a SOAP request directly. It does a POST to a end-point with some data.

Here is a link describing the monitor type I'm looking for. This would be a useful monitor type for all ipMonitor users IMO.

FYI, as a workaround for now, you could write a scripts that exercised your SOAP requests. You can call the scripts using IPM's external process monitor (custom executable / script monitor).

Hi Chris,

I appreciate the update. We are looking at having a central script or EXE that IPMonitor would pass in the necessary variables and return a 1 or 0. That should help monitor the web services. We use IBM's websphere pretty extensively. We want to be able to run real or synthetic transactions and monitor for performance. To do it from vbscript, a person will need WSE 3.0 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms977317.aspx This can be done from Microsoft.net which has web service support. Hope that helps.

Hi,

I'm looking for the same thing: a way to feed in SOAP body to a web service call like SiteScope. Is this function available in APM/NPM yet? If so, please kindly direct to the proper documentation because I cannot find that option in the tool.
