Hi THWACK community,
This invitation comes from me as SolarWinds’ head of product for AI, so let me start with a quick confession.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve sat through way too many AI demos.
They usually go the same way: someone types in a perfectly framed prompt, the tool spits out a tidy summary, and everyone nods. But if you actually run IT operations, you know the reality. You’re still the one doing the heavy lifting. You have to ask the right question, double-check the answer, decide what’s safe to change, and figure out what to do next when things actually get complicated.
That is why I’m genuinely excited about what we’re bringing to SolarWinds Day.
On October 14 and 15, we’ll introduce goal-oriented AI for IT operations. The idea is simple: instead of asking AI to help with one task at a time, you define the outcome you want, set the guardrails, and direct a team of AI agents to help achieve it.

That could mean:
- Reducing alert noise
- Speeding up an investigation
- Keeping your environment in compliance
- Preventing resource bottlenecks
- Finding the path to resolution
- Improving your operational picture across the environment
The agents handle the legwork while you stay completely in control.
That distinction matters. This is not about handing over the keys to your environment or adding another chatbot to your toolset. It is about helping IT teams move from reacting to every individual incident or prompt to focusing on the outcomes that matter most.
At SolarWinds Day, you’ll get a first look at:
- What goal-oriented AI is and why it changes the role of AI in IT operations
- How agents can work toward operational goals instead of simply answering questions
- How SolarWinds is approaching human oversight, guardrails, and control
- What’s new across Observability, Database, Incident Response, and ITSM
- Where we’re taking this next
I’m personally most excited for the practical questions. What happens when the agent gets it wrong? How much control do you really have? What does it take to trust AI with work that affects your environment?
Those are the questions I want us to answer directly. Not with a polished claim, but with a clear view of how this works and where the boundaries are.
SolarWinds Day is virtual and you can join us at a time that works for you:
