On-Demand is Here! VSWUG: A Gallery Walkthrough into Evidence-Led Monitoring

Missed our Virtual SolarWinds User Group (VSWUG) last Thursday, August 27th?

Good news, the on-demand recording is live now, so you can catch every dashboard, demo, and "aha" moment whenever suits you.

What you missed

SolarWinds MVP Daniel Brannagan (@i_like_eggs), Senior SolarWinds Engineer at Creative ITC, took us on a live walkthrough of his dashboard gallery and his approach to Evidence-Led Monitoring, building a "case file" of qualified evidence that gives engineers real, defensible operational context instead of just another alert.

Dan showed off dashboards built natively with SQL/HTML/CSS (no external tooling), from playful touches like his animated guide "Bob" and Star Wars-themed node status, to serious, customer-facing views that turn complex monitoring data into something anyone can read at a glance. He also dug into alert and monitoring maturity, visualizing alert patterns and clarifying suppression logic to help teams trust their data.

The chat was buzzing the whole session, with SQL vs. SWQL debates, RBAC questions, and plenty of "how do I get this dashboard" requests. If you were there, you know exactly what we mean. If you weren't, now's your chance to see what the fuss was about.

Thank you so much for this, and to everyone who joined the session. I had a lot of fun putting it together and may have gone slightly off-script once or twice 😅

I love the “case file of qualified evidence” description. That really captures what I was trying to show: moving beyond another alert and giving engineers enough context to understand what the available evidence actually supports.

Thanks again for having me, and for always making the THWACK community such a welcoming place to share ideas.
