snmp credentials disappearing from i node

i need an explanation why some nodes of my orion platform , in concreet a server, is marked with a red circle in the map, as if it lost snmp comunication. If i use snmpwalk to discriminate wether is a problem in solardwins 2026.1.1 or it is something related to the network…ACL,Firewall, etc what oid do i use for the trial? and with this information, how do i put up the server, so that the node does not appear with the red circle anymore in the maps? T

Lets assume you are not looking for contributors and you are just looking at why the device states down in SolarWinds even though you can reach it via SNMP.

There could also be another reason as to why that device is marked red in your environment, check if you can ping that device from your SolarWinds servers.

Ideally for Node Status - is it up or down - SolarWinds uses ICMP and not SNMP.

May be ping is not allowed in your case for that device which is why its red. If you are sure SNMP is working and SNMP Walk it returns everything, you could as well use SNMP in SolarWinds for Device availability rather than ICMP.

Just go to that node page click on list resources and change Device Availability to use SNMP to fetch Node Status.

By doing this, you are asking SolarWinds to use SNMP rather than the default ICMP for device status.

Hello @utande

There could be several reasons as to why the node status can turn into warning/critical.

Be it your Node Status and components linked to your like Node/Device like CPU, Memory, Interface Downs, etc etc

Login into your SolarWinds instance and validate what all contributes towards the Node Status in your environment:

Click on Settings → All Settings → Node Child Status Participation (this is under THRESHOLDS & POLLING ). I am assuming you are already aware that you need admin rights to check this on SolarWinds.
