Can we send SMS alert from DPA?

Hi fellow Community members,

The current version of our DPA is "2025.4.0.511"

We have configured multiple critical alerts in DPA module and get email alerts for the same, I would like to know if there is a way now to configure SMS alerts for the same.

There is an old post in 2017 asking the same question, has the feature made available 9 years later?😊

No, SolarWinds DPA (Database Performance Analyzer) does not support native SMS alerts. Create feature request

While DPA doesn’t natively support SMS contacts, you can usually send alerts as text messages by emailing a phone number’s SMS gateway. For example, to text 555-123-4567 on Verizon, send an email to 5551234567@vtext.com. AT&T and T-Mobile offer similar email-to-SMS gateways.

1. The "Email-to-SMS" Gateway (Easiest & Free)

Most mobile carriers provide an email address that forwards to a phone as a text message. This is the most common workaround for DPA.

* In DPA, go to Alerts > Email Contact Manager.
* Add a new contact using your phone's SMS gateway address.
* Examples:* Verizon: [number]@vtext.com
* AT&T: [number]@txt.att.net
* T-Mobile: [number]@tmomail.net

2. Integration with SolarWinds Platform (Recommended)

If you have SAM, NPM, or Hybrid Cloud Observability, you should integrate DPA into the main SolarWinds Platform (using DPAIM).

3. Use an "Alert Aggregator" (The 2026 way)

Many modern shops no longer send SMS directly from the monitoring tool. Instead, they send an email to a tool like PagerDuty, Opsgenie, or VictorOps.

* DPA sends a "Critical" email to the aggregator.
* The aggregator handles the SMS, voice calls, and "on-call" rotations.
* This is much more reliable than direct SMS, as it tracks if the message was actually delivered and acknowledged.
