I have our lab upgraded to 2026.1.1. I am looking through all the documentation about the AI Agent and Anomaly based alerts and do you need an Observability SaaS license to run these?
The first part on that page, marked with a green square below, is for the AI features and that does not require a license.
The second part, in red below, is for using Observability SaaS as well as your self-hosted. Connecting and using both platforms. That will require a license, as the guide says. To just use the AI features in self-hosted, this part can be disabled.
On the tab "Agent Status" you should have green dots showing that your platform connect, is connected:
Hi
NO, you don't need a SaaS license - but you need to set up Platform Connect towards SW SaaS environment, but that can be done without license and will continue to work without a saas license.
Are there instructions on this somewhere? This is really confusing and everything I find says "connect to SaaS" and we do not have SaaS.
And this always times out. I am assuming I need to connect it somewhere?
I was crossing two different things thank you for pointing me in the right direction. More reading up and more questions to follow. I updated our Lab to 2026.1.1 and wanted to look at some of the fun new things. Thank you!!!
Perfect!
And now 2026.2.0 RC1 is out with even more fun new stuff :-)
I’ve been thinking about the SolarWinds anomaly layer and whether it can evolve beyond basic anomaly scoring into something more operationally useful.
Once you get into Z-scores, baselines, and expected ranges, a lot of anomaly detection starts to look like the same bottle with a different label. The value is not in flagging that something is different. The value is in the context around that difference.
For me, this gets more useful when it moves from ‘something looks odd’ to ‘here’s what changed, here’s the baseline, here’s the headroom, and here’s how long you’ve likely got if the pattern continues’.
anyway good luck on your adventure
