I wanted to see if anyone has started to really use the anomaly alerts in SolarWinds yet?
My initial thoughts on it is, who wouldn't want smarter resource utilization alerts. So I am excited to dive into it. My initial reaction though is I'm trying to figure out how in the world do we scale and automate this. In my environment we use custom properties for almost everything. That way when a new node is added, it at least has a standard set of alerts for CPU, Memory, Storage and Up/Down where the tech can use custom properties to set the alert action and reciepent.
Unless I'm missing something, with anamoly alerts it looks like you have to go in and check the box of each system you want that monitor on. There appears to be no tie into to custom properties or a dynmic way to add nodes to it. So my first thought is, here is another thing to train the teams on that will get skipped. I'm also trying to figure out do we just do a single CPU detection for all Windows/Linux nodes, seperate across business unit, business app, etc…
I can see the potential, but I'm not sure if it is production ready at the moment.
So I guess thoughts and comments on anomaly alerts, and if your using it how did you implement it for your environment? What kind of growing pains did you have?
