Hello everyone,
We are currently using SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM) to manage and discover network segments within our infrastructure.
We are relatively new to SolarWinds, so we are still becoming familiar with how Network Discovery works and how subnets are integrated into the platform.
Before upgrading the platform, when we were running version 2023.2, we were able to see all network segments correctly in IPAM, including a segment associated with our core switches.
However, after upgrading to version 2026, we noticed that one of the network segments that was previously visible is no longer appearing in IPAM.
Environment
- Our network includes several core switches managing different VLANs and network segments.
- In version 2023.2, IPAM displayed the information for this segment correctly.
- After upgrading to 2026, the segment stopped appearing in the platform.
- We are trying to run Network Sonar Discovery again to rediscover and integrate the segment, but the discovery process does not detect it.
What we have tried so far
- Running Network Sonar Discovery again.
- Adjusting discovery parameters such as timeout, retries, and hops.
- Verifying connectivity to the segment from the SolarWinds server.
- Confirming that the core switches are still accessible.
Despite these checks, the segment still does not appear in the list of discovered networks in IPAM.
Since we are still learning the platform, we are also considering the possibility that there might be a firewall, ACL, or network restriction blocking the discovery process (for example ICMP or SNMP), or that the segment might not be properly reachable from the SolarWinds server.
At this point we are not sure if the issue might be related to:
- Network Discovery configuration
- Connectivity from the SolarWinds server to that segment
- A firewall or network policy
- Or a change in IPAM discovery behavior between version 2023.2 and version 2026
