VMware Folders

Hi there,

Is there anyway to run a SWQL query based on VMware folder view? I see old posts saying these feature got deprecated around 2015 and a feature request to re-add it in. I just wondered if this feature is back in there or if anyone has any logically workarounds?

Context is I'm created a dashboard for a team and only want to show VM's in a SWQL table that they are interested in (all VM's within their folder in VMWare). The only way I think I can do this is tag the VM on the VMware side then use a WHERE TAG = blah on the SWQL query.

I would say the only option is to filter based on Custom Properties…

Can you have a custom property on an unmanaged virtual machine though? I thought CA's can only be assigned to managed nodes?
