Bulk Interface Selection: Monitoring "VNI" Interfaces on Onboarded Nodes

Hi Team,

I am looking for a way to bulk-select specific interfaces for monitoring across our onboarded WAN switches.

Specifically, I need to monitor all interfaces that contain the string "VNI" in their description or name. We have over 200 nodes already in the system, and manual selection for each node is not feasible.

I have already tried using Bulk Discovery on a few nodes, but it did not work as expected. Since all these nodes are already onboarded, re-onboarding them does not seem to address the issue.

Could you please suggest an efficient method to filter and add these interfaces in bulk across existing nodes? If there is a specific Discovery rule or an alternative approach within NPM & NTA 2024.2.0 to handle this for already-managed nodes, please let me know.

How about setting up a new discovery job on those 200 nodes, and set up automatic monitor for these interfaces. Like this:

Tried it's not working, open TAC ticket. But they also not able to resolve it and suggest to re-onboard all if possible. If i did i will loose all historical data.

Looks like you have 2 things in there:

First pull the list of devices/nodes on all of your polling engines - add polling engines as well to the report to know on which poller your WAN device is hosted on.
Then Network Discovery - go poller by poller, based on the above node report you will know on which poller the node is residing right, run the discovery only for those nodes. (Split the Network Discovery based on Pollers - one discovery job per poller and only the relevant nodes on that poller to be hosted in that discovery job, I am assuming you understand what I am trying to say if not reply back, this should solve your issue on your response, no need to delete and add the devices).
Lastly do you know where is this VNI coming from? Is it Interface Name or Interface Description or Interface Alias (select the right one)? As well try regular expression rather than contains - give it a shot and let me know how it looks

Devices are already onboarded earlier, but the interface selected by different team members and they selected as per their need at that time.

Now, organization following some standard based on that they are adding descriptions on the interface, and they want to monitor only that interface where VNI mentioned.

I tried, using your way also, but it's not removing earlier selected interface and as well as sometime i noticed using above process it's selected another interface whose description mentioned like ae etc.
