On the same server, open

C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\JobEngine.v2\Logs_Agent

and look for clear JobEngine errors. Looking at the agent logs first would be the first step to see if there is any signs of problems.

Check Agent Plugins (Most Common Issue)
Sometimes the agent is installed but required plugins (WMI, file system, performance plugins) are missing or corrupt.
How to check:
Settings → Manage Agents → Select Agent → More Actions → View Installed Agent Plugins
If plugins are missing → reinstall the agent or redeploy plugins.
Restart the SolarWinds Agent Service
Even when the agent shows “Connected,” the internal plugin handlers can be stuck.
Fix: On the Windows server:

Open services.msc
Restart: SolarWinds Agent

3. Check logs on the polling engine to see what's failing:
Look at the following files:

%PROGRAMDATA%\SolarWinds\Discovery Engine\OrionDiscoveryJob.log
%PROGRAMDATA%\SolarWinds\Logs\Orion\OrionWeb.log
%PROGRAMDATA%\SolarWinds\Logs\Orion\Core.BusinessLayer.log
%PROGRAMDATA%\SolarWinds\Logs\AgentManagement\AgentManagement.Service.log
