Is it possible whether solarwinds will update automatically the new IP address of the device.

Hi Team,

we have one query.

we have one scenario like the IP of the device is automatically changed when device got rebooted. So is it possible that whether solarwinds can capture this changed IP of the device and automatically updates in the solarwinds for this device with out manually updating in the solarwinds. Please help us on this Query.

Yes, it's possible.
When you add the node, check "Dynamic IP address" and put in the DNS name for the device instead of the IP address

It's also possible to edit an already monitor node, change it to a dynamic address node. Just go in and edit the node

@santhoshadapa - @Lofstrand post is accurate, but test it out on one of your nodes, if you are using SNMP to monitor the devices once there is a change in IP revalidate if all resources are accurate, be it your volumes/interfaces/device info. In certain cases I have noticed resources becoming obsolete which might need rediscovery and re-adding a few of them accordingly. Test this out and let us know, since your post doesnt mention what type of polling method you are using I am not sure how would SolarWinds act when the IP is changed. Hope this helps.
