Hello All!
I was under the impression that SolarWinds provides native hardware polling for Cisco FTD firewalls, It looks like it doesn't though.
Any ideas how I can get hardware polling work on these firewalls?
Thanks.
This could be an issue/bug on your Cisco FPR / FTD, there are details which state them as well, which is why SolarWinds might not be getting the right response from it
Configure SNMP on Firepower NGFW Appliances - Cisco
The only other approach that I can think of is through UNDP - even for this (say suppose you have the right SNMP OID - you still need to make sure that Cisco FPR / FTD returns the value back to SolarWinds.
How to Create a Universal Device Poller (UnDP) in NPM
Hope this helps.
Thank you Vinay, I raised this with SolarWinds support. I will let you know how it goes.
Hi! Were you able to resolve the issue? I'm also having issues with the hardware monitoring of FTDs.
Hello gee_r,
No, unfortunately I was not able to because it is not possible.
SolarWinds cannot natively monitor Cisco FTD hardware health because our FTD models do not expose standard SNMP hardware OIDs, and critical health data resides in FXOS and FMC APIs, which SolarWinds does not currently support.
What I did instead is I configured FMC to send email alerts when there is a hardware issue. I would suggest you do the same if you use FMC.
Let me know what you think.
