Query related to SNMP 161 traffic direction

I seek clarification regarding the SNMP firewall rules. As per the core Orion platform requirements, SNMP port 161 needs to be opened in bi-directional mode. However, for the Additional Polling Engine (APE), the same port appears to require only inbound access.

Could you please confirm the correct direction in which SNMP traffic should be allowed through the firewall for polling purposes?

Correction in APE port number

Port number 161 - outbound

Port 161 is for SNMP polling / statistics collection from the Polling Engine to which the Node is assigned (bidirectional), Port 162 is for SNMP Trap forwarding to the Polling Engine receiving SNMP Traps (inbound)

So why would 161 need to be bi-directional. The polling engine is making a call to the target. Will it not get a response if 161 is not bi-directional?
