Complete observability includes monitoring a user's digital experience. That’s where digital experience monitoring comes in to provide organizations with insight to proactively identify and resolve issues. With so many vendors on the market, a tool often used for vetting technology vendors is the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Digital Experience Monitoring. The Magic Quadrant for Digital Experience Monitoring was first published in 2024. This year marks the second consecutive year of reporting on this topic. To us, this report offers graphic competitive positioning that evaluates vendors offering digital experience monitoring (DEM) across four categories: Leaders, Visionaries, Challengers, and Niche Players.

SolarWinds Observability SaaS DEM was named a Niche Player in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for a second consecutive year. We’re proud to see our hard work reflected in the graphic. In our opinion, our growth within DEM this year is driven by our continued focus on our features that are designed to solve complex user experience problems. For example, some of our recently added DEM features include:
- Synthetic Transactions: Capabilities designed to simulate user experiences across applications, websites, and APIs from global vantage points by mimicking real-user behavior through scripted transactions.
- Real User Monitoring (RUM): Gain deep visibility by capturing real-time performance data from browsers and mobile devices as users interact with applications.
Beyond some key features, we believe the following supports our DEM solutions’ strengths:
- Flexible Deployment Options: Our DEM platform adapts to operational needs by offering deployment options through either SolarWinds Observability SaaS or self-hosted. This supports flexibility, control, customization, and improved scalability.
- API-Based Lifecycle Management (RUM Configurations): We focus on Real User Monitoring (RUM) and API-based lifecycle management to build scalability right in. Users can automate RUM deployment and integrate configuration directly into CI/CD workflows.
- Global Partner Network: We maintain a diverse partner network that supports our vendors and customers globally.
That's a quick look at some of our key features and capabilities. Now, let’s talk about what makes our platform tick. Combining DEM with the rest of your systems is what makes DEM a core part of complete Observability.
Our Approach: Digital Experience Monitoring as a complete Observability Solution
We do DEM a little differently. As much as users can access a DEM only experience, we believe that DEM is strongest as one piece of observability. Why? It's important to contextualize performance data across the delivery chain, linking beyond what can be seen solely through digital experience.
With SolarWinds Observability SaaS, DEM is unified with application performance monitoring, infrastructure, database, and network performance for a unified view.
