Too many people in the past have been involved in setting up monitoring at the customer sites. There's no consistency and most of it has been done either badly or wrong. Alerts are incorrect or missing and dashboards aren't maintained. This isn't a Solarwinds issue. It's a management issue. They need to just allow one person (me) to do the setting up. Anyone who needs new nodes added, nodes deleted or modified should do it through a single point of reference until everything is running correctly. I can always train up someone as an understudy. And it preserves my job
I have nothing nice to say, therefore, I will refrain from comment.
Good points
Agent Communication on Windows servers. Constantly having to restart agent services or reinstall agent.
Agent sevices!
Or perhaps I should say spelling!
\m/
Consistency with who conducts daily checks and how they conduct the checks.
The alerts can be annoying, but the silos.... It can compare to driving through the American Midwest farmland. All you see are fields (of data) and silos (of data) that you cannot access. The occasional farmer's stand will offer a few bits (of data or fresh crops), and that is all you get. This is great until someone asks about all those fields that you saw, and you can only reply, that the data is out there... Somehow observability this feels like an XFiles episode - 'the truth is out there. Trust no one.'
good to know
nice
Getting reports to reflect what I'm looking for... Tho, this could be due to my lack of SW knowledge...
