How are the NCM Events attached to a node?

Has anyone explored the database and system enough to know how this information is attached to a node?

The ID field in the NCM_Audit/Cirrus.Audit table looks to be a unique ID for the row and not a referenced key, but if you go to a node, you do only see the audit events for that node, so I wanted to see how this was being done
