My biggest driving factor and challenge is the fact that most of the AI currently depends on the cloud for running the models. For air-gapped networks this is a problem. This means we have to build our own infrastructure and the cost is $$$$$ right now.
To be honest - AI isn't terribly expensive to build out vs what it costs for cloud, but requires people with some minimum understanding. The bigger issue is : who is processing your data and how? You could download local models and run them locally on a laptop. Training off your environment's data is resource intensive. It's just a matter of time before people realize the problems of copilot and what microsoft is doing with that training data, which is going to include every client sensitive communication ever sent across teams. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/copilot/microsoft-365/microsoft-365-copilot-privacy should send people running for the hills as it's not a question of "if we use your data", but how. Which is so massive a problem I cannot even highlight how bad it is.Doesn't translate to "we aren't storing this data" nor "we aren't using it for other copilot LLM's" - they are sending 100% of the data to bing. There's no mention if they're training copilot off bing because OF COURSE THEY ARE!
I voted for cost and ROI. A lot of buzz is around AI, which lead to implementations without a proper business case. Investing in AI is more then implementing a tool. You need to be trained and skilled to make efficient use of AI.
Cost... generally related to what @ecklerwr1 and air gapped networks.
Skynet is always a concern... Just saying... *wink*
This is a big fear for sure. Luckily there are many semi documented ways of removing parts of windows.
It's a challenge for sure! We have our own internal AI that you can choose one of 4 models to run against but it's all hosted in the "cloud" which doesn't help me a lot except reading from one monitor to find data to use on another that's on an air gapped network. Don't get me wrong but this often means hand jamming a lot of code in or doing a trusted download aka DTA.
