Having begun with credit card installment payments in the dealer channel, Paynet is now a Central Bank-licensed FinTech company that digitizes financial processes for over 32,000 businesses operating in different industry sectors. Paynet’s innovative and reliable solutions enable member merchants to easily manage their payment flow without time or location limitations.
CHALLENGE
Looking to improve Paynet services’ uptime further, three areas were identified. First, Paynet needed to track hardware, software, Microsoft® SQL Security, IIS, Linux Security, and retrospective permissions changes on their servers and be continuously informed of who was doing them. Second, Paynet needed to have configuration backups performed on their network devices. Third, Paynet needed a solution to efficiently monitor and manage performance in its virtualization layer.
SOLUTION
Working with partner ODYA Technology, the IT teams analyzed Paynet’s situation and created a project plan to evaluate options. Ultimately, they determined that the SolarWinds® Platform had the breadth of solutions to empower Paynet in all three areas. SolarWinds Server Configuration Monitor (SCM), Network Configuration Management (NCM), and Virtualization Manager (VMAN) capabilities were chosen to effectively track server changes, back up its network device configurations, and monitor and manage Paynet’s virtualization layer.
“Now, with the SCM module, changes made to the Paynet infrastructure are monitored instantly, said Gökhan Öztorun, Paynet Chief Technology Officer. “With our JIRA integration, a ticket is instantly opened on the JIRA platform for a change detected in the SCM module and all other alarms.”
Additionally, the team made configuration management changes for network devices, including using NCM to create daily backups from critical firewall devices. These backup jobs provide valuable information to the team responsible for Paynet’s network health.
BENEFITS
In the project rollout, SolarWinds Platform SCM, NCM, and VMAN capabilities were installed first; next, virtualization, server, and network infrastructure were added; and finally, customization studies were carried out in line with Paynet requirements.
In the VMAN module, we monitor Paynet’s ESX Hosts added to vCenter. We monitor the basic performance metrics of virtual machines (VMs) running under ESX Hosts, and thanks to the Recommendations feature in VMAN, we can receive informative messages about resource usage on VMs. — Gökhan Öztorun, Paynet CTO
Paynet realized a 30% time savings from reducing repetitive tasks. They also achieved a 20% decrease in network outages and a 15% reduction in the total working hours of Paynet’s system administrators over a one-year period.
