Scheduled maintenance masking alerts when finished

Question

We have two monitors on a server that we put into scheduled maintenance each morning at 1am for 4.5 hours.  When the maintenance period ended at 5:30am this morning, the monitors were still down but IPM9 didn't alert us.  When the monitors came up at 6:30am, we then got alerts telling us that the monitors were back up.

Shouldn't IPM alert us at 5:30am (or five minutes later) when the maintenance period ended and the monitors were discovered to still be down?

Turned out to be a classic case of Catch 22.  The reason we didn't get any email alerts is because the monitor that was down was our email system(!)

Time to configure up some more alerts on our new GSM modem.

Hi Simon,

When a monitor exits maintenance mode its state gets set to "uninitialized" (no history). In this case it would take the regular amount of time to trigger alerts, but it should do so. By default all alert related history is recorded in the logs, it's handy to go back and check on if alerts were triggered or skipped.
