Hi forum,
Just getting started on IP SLA finally. couple of things that are frustrating me, and i am not sure if they are just missing features, or if I am doing something wrong.
1. when adding nodes to IP[ SLA, the pull-down to sort the results only has "machine type, "comments", "city" and "department". I would like to be able to sort on custom properties like in the rest of the Solarwinds modules
2. When adding nodes to IP SLA to act as sources or end points for operations, I can only select IP SLA capable devices. What I want to be able to do, is add servers and anything else that I have in NPM, so i do not have to enter IP addresses for TCP connects etc. I would like to be able to select an IP SLA capable switch for the source, but a different NPM node for the destination for the probe. Ip SLA manager would then pull the information from Orion and configure the probe accordingly.
3. when creating an alert within Orion for IP SLA operations, I need to be able to select the contents of the operation's destination. use that as a variable and display it in the subject line. My working example, is that I have a switch where i have configured a probe to HTTP connect to http://www.google.co.uk. I want to use the probe to tell me if google.com is Up or DOWN. The advance alert email will state "Alert: website http://www.google.co.uk is DOWN" but all i can get at the moment is the whole probe name. I could rename the probe with just the website, but what if i have multiple nodes polling the same website
4. I think if you could add servers and non SLA nodes to IP SLA manager, you would be able to get point 3 closed off by creating external nodes for websites, and use them as IP SLA end point destinations
what do you think?
cheers
Dan
