THWACK Monthly Mission - August 2018

Use the mission’s resources to complete the tasks and answer the questions for a chance to win!

Correctly answer each question during the week and you'll be entered for a chance to win the weekly prize.

Correctly answer all 20 questions over the course of the month and you'll be entered for a chance to win the grand prize.

150 points are being awarded for each correctly answered question. There are 20 questions, which means you can earn a maximum of 3,000 points for this mission.

Thanks for the link. I was having a Monday morning and read the check boxes as radio buttons. This threw me for a bit. The link gave me what I needed and is a nice feature of the software.

Not seeing the Mission Shortcut on the page this month. It mentions it in the question today so seems like it's just an oversight.

Also, did the green check change? The check mark is a little off center now. Maybe it's the Outer Limits spookiness messing with things

Aye. After answering the question, I saw this in the response to my answer, "Too easy? Take the mission shortcut to be entered for a chance to receive an awesome prize." So, I went to look for the mission shortcut. Didn't find it either. Maybe it is still coming. Maybe it will be something like, 'Send us a screen capture of your mission shortcuts.' ...or such.

My favorite episode was the Unfortune Cookie. Or wait. Was that the Twilight zone? Someone once told me they were the same show -- that the Twilight Zone became the Outer Limits. I'm sure there's a OL/TZ fan here who can set the record straight.

not doing very well this month. the lack of a hint is causing me to guess but that's my issue. Q2 doesn't seem to have a correct answer as one option seems wrong and one option is only right for some of the issues - not all.

These questions are poorly written and the lack of a hint about the functionality being referred to compounds the issue.

These questions are all subjective and have no basis in reality where I work. There is no kitchen and my Second Amendment t-shirt pretty much guarantees they won't corner me in any room. LOL I missed the second one and I have no idea what they are trying to prove with this drivel. I'm about fed up with this nonsense.

If I had to guess at the Day 2 answer, it would be something that had to do with a Solarwinds Product and not just ignoring the problem. BUT I can't seem to find anything under the Web Help Desk Knowledge Base Articles that would confirm this....?

Come on people, it's not even product specific. Q2 as an example, look at the question they are asking for a "What if scenario"

Would you:

A - Assign them a loaner machine?

B - Ignore them!

C - Lie to them!

If you can't tell which is the obvious answer then you need a talking with! Now maybe there should be a "Select 1 of the following" but that would be making it too easy.

I could see where the specific fix is to give them loaner computers because in the problem description it states "They can't work because of problems with their computers". But I don't want to risk missing the question. I searched through the WHD Knowledge Base for Loaner PCs or Loaner and can't find anything. Even read the "NightMare" Outer Limits episode synopsis. The first question did have a direct reference buried in the Knowledge Base, just trying to find the key hear for answers.
