Disable monitoring of Admin Down ports

Sorry for all of the questions recently I'm still in the process of setting up our Solarwinds and trying to dial it in how I want it. Originally I setup w/ monitoring of up, down, & admin down interfaces. I'd like to remove admin down interfaces after the fact, but can't find where to do this other than deleting all of my nodes and re-discovering.

There are one or two way you can disable or delete the interface, deleting in this sense means removing it from the monitoring (which if you go into the node and list resources you can see all the interfaces there) to select and unselect them, that is one way.

The other way is to go into manage nodes. Select the '+' next to the node, here the interfaces are listed and so you can tick them and delete them from there.

I guess I was hoping for a more bulk approach. Doing this for over 2K devices would be a bit time consuming.

I guess so, but you didnt state 2k devices ? if you are just setting it up, then i guess you could delete all the nodes and rediscover them? is that an option? At least that way as you go through and add nodes you can select/deselect what you do and dont want to monitor.

Or settings - manage nodes, change the drop down to interfaces - change the view so you can see the node name and interface type and select them and delete them there.

It would be nice if you could rerun the discovery wizard on nodes that already exist within NPM without having to rerun the entire discovery again.

You can rerun the discovery, if there are nodes that are already there it will fail on those and discover those that aren't.

In order to do this as a bulk action, the only ways are to use the Manage Node area, which unfortunately does not allow easy filtering of interfaces (the group by drop down would be good to reference Interface Custom Properties, but it doesnt)

Tip: you could use Custom Properties and create a CP at Interface level, populate this using the CP Export/Import mechanism and then use the Manage Nodes area > change to Interfaces in the drop down > click on the chevron icon on the Column section >> and add the custom property to the column output. You can then easily bulk select and then delete.

Alternatively, you could use the Orion API and create a script to delete the interfaces using a simple SWQL WHERE clause to determine which interfaces to delete.
