Dameware Remote support on iPad

This maybe a dumb question but i have installed centralized server and mobile gateway along with the internet proxy. Can i remotely connect to my iPad devices using MRC? I was told yes but i'm starting to think that isnt the case.

I think you're thinking of the DameWare Mobile setup which is on DameWare Remote Support.

You can remote from Android or iOS devices to Windows PC's, it doesn't seem to be vice versa (unless someone wishes to direct us to how this is done).

The Dameware mobile setup meaning the mobile apps to use on the android and apple devices to connect to the mobile gateway? Is that what you mean?

Yes, which allows you to connect your Android or iOS devices to computers.

Yea thats what i thought. But not the other way around right? I cant connect to an iPad or android from windows im assuming

Hey Byates,

right off the bat - this isn't a dumb question, it's one I've heard a couple of times now.

First off - it is theoretically possible to control iOS/ Android devices, it is however incredibly impractical to set up.

We need to keep 2 things in mind:

DameWare requires one of the following Protocols to be able to connect to a device: MRC Viewer, RDP, VNC, AMT KVM. Out of which the only one available for Mac/ Unix systems is VNC.
VNC servers require root access ( atleast all that I am aware of do ) on the respective devices which would require you to Jailbreak your iOS/ Android devices.

While this was a fun excercise for me to do on my Samsung Galaxy, this is a very time consuming process that potentially voids your guarantee on your iOS devices.

Secondly - your best chance of ever seeing this as an easy to use feature that doesn't require an extensive amount of setup would be to use the Feature Request on the MRC forums.
