Hi,
I am currently working in an outsourced service operation. We have recently installed NPM, APM and NCM on my recommendation and are now using Orion as the main operations management system replacing the incumbant outsourced system.
This is all good but we are having some operational issues with the Alerting functionality.
I have listed the issues below. Hopefully someone can advise me if the functionality already exists or is currently being worked on for a future release.
1/ Network Objects in the Alerts tab
Currently, if an Application Alert is triggered, the application name is shown under the Network Object field. Can the network node name be shown as well?
Similarly, if an application component is triggered, the application component name is shown under the Network Object field. Can the network node name and application name be shown as well?
2/ Alert Acknowledgement notes
This has been requested before and it would be an extremely useful feature for a support operator to be able to update the status of an Alert for other operators to view.
3/ Alert Categorisation
There doesn't seem to be a simple way of categorising triggered alerts. We could just add the word Critical, MEDIUM or LOW to the email subject line for each alert. However, I would like to see the Alerts being highlighted within the Alerts page of NPM based upon this categorisation. So if you mark a configured Alert as CRITCAL it will be highlighted in RED, MEDIUM = ORANGE and LOW = WHITE. You could then order the Active Alerts based upon their categorisation.
Regards
Paul
