Solarwinds should create Anti-Virus and IDS software that could be displayed in Orion
Can you elaborate on this? Are you suggesting SolarWinds create new product, or create canned montiors for existing systems? I can get behind you and push for monitors that I can display statistics, but I don't know if a NMS should get into that line.
I thinking in terms on monitoring and getting a total picture of the health of the network.
It would be nice to have an anti virus program that is combined with Network Monitoring Software. If a virus is detected you could be directed to which switchport or access point that the device is connected to. If this a wireless device we could show this on a heatmap

Interesting request and something I have heard from a number of people. We develop a system called LANGuardian which includes an IDS and you can see what the integration looks like a the link below. Top left element contains data sourced from LANGuardian. You may get some ideas from this.

Your follow on comments are also interesting as admins like to be able to deal with situations there and then, ideally from the one console. The SolarWinds UDT product is good at going out and getting an inventory of switchports and IP addresses and when you drilldown on an event you can then shutdown the port to contain the situation. This video shows an example of this in action
