Orion Alert Manager

I hope someone could help me out.. I just came onboard to a new company and they have a server with Solarwinds /Orion installed on it.. Also, this is is their in house monitoring solution. I want to start with a simple Ping alert.. Its configured but i get reports that it sometimes takes up to 6hrs to get an alert.

When you say "ping alert" I assume you are looking for a simple node down?

There are a few things to consider here...

How frequent is your polling set to?
How frequent is the alert set to check?
Are there any delays set on the alert?
How are you sending the alert (email, sms, etc)?
1. It's possible that the delay could be in one of these systems external to Orion

Let me know what these are set to and we can try and work from there.
