Search and replace function in configs

What I would like to do is search for a string like "switchport voice vlan 420" in all the interfaces of a switch and replace it with another string like "switchport voice vlan 450".

My question is the execution of this? Do you intend to have it simply overwrite the running config with a regex substituted config? I think there are certain things that should be left to fully functional programming languages, this would be one of them.

This might be something you can do with the NCM Config Change Templates. It allows you to search for Interface descriptions and then execute scripts against those that were found. I hope this helps...
