Hello,
export import seems to be the weakest sore spot of solarwinds and development doesn't care to enhance it.
EDIT:
For NCM it would be a great idea if there was an export button on an old environment which you can click and it creates a file for you. In this file it exports a mirror image of your current configuration. Than on the new environment you can click import and bring everything in with ease. I ask this as large companies like ours have a difficult time when we need to export and import from old to new environment and we can't do it because solarwinds is not capable of this. And having to manually enter in years worth of data in a few day's to meet deadlines means we have to work like robots day and night to get the task accomplished.
I know that in NCM there are limited abilities to export small things and import in bulk into a folder than your left to organize everything out. And while all this is fine for small environments that don't have many devices but when your talking about 50k plus elements...this takes forever.
Please if we have to backup information from old and send it to the new we have to do it through the database and it always scares me when we have to manually edit databases. there is high probability of errors happening.
For all the large environments out there. Be advised that if you decided to skip upgrade in place like we did. And build a new separate environment and start transferring things over you will experience these headaches and support won't have much to say other than upvote the feature requests.
