Our Solarwinds is already used in many ways as the site database for monitored equipment. After all most equipment these days has an IP, and if it has an IP it should be monitored. What we do not have within Solarwinds is a Location database. We have the ability to add the location data to each node, but it would be so much nicer if we could create Site locations with some default data such as Country, city, state and some customized fields that can be tagged to the node with this data. Now the Node would have a single source of an updated contact or even phone change. In mapping we could pull in the site Location rather than the nodes to the city map to quickly show all equipment at that location as RYG status. Of course by adding customized fields this would allow a user to put in site data that is specific to our business units. This could easily allow us some quick reporting of equipment by location to show affected headcount, and for those that add in the circuit data per interface we gain a full circuit view by location as well.
