To have the ability to skip or have no option for unwanted monitor such as Appinsights under the List Resources page/Network Discovery
+100 for this. I do not use the AppInsight for IIS or the AppInsight for SQL on 90% of the relevant systems, and this makes my network discovery results (new/changed) look MUCH larger than it really is, due to the unapplied application templates.
Upvoting this. The amount of effort that goes into keeping AppInsight from coming up and throwing off all my SAM applications has honestly made me give up on maintaining my SAM applications. *Please* make it an opt-in feature, it is too reliant on elevated creds (and therefore, in my environment, just hangs dead off the node) to be something the application expects you to have active. I've got literal hundreds of these things dead in the water between IIS, SQL, and AD and even if I go through tediously one by one disabling them (because the List Resources methods in SDK are broken and I can't say if they've ever worked), one false move or enough time away and you're up to your ears in the things again. If look at SAM and see "500 Unknown, 100 Down" my gut is to ask "How much after you subtract AppInsight?"
Especially for API discovery context
