At present Orion allows to have multiple nodes with the same IP but to add node with the same IP one has to go through exercise of adding some dummy node with some IP and then change it later on. When trying to add "duplicate" at present system only proposes to RE-ADD existing node.
What I'm suggesting is to allow adding node with the same IP and extend list of options with ADD DUPLICATE, that way changing IP exercise will not be required anymore.
Generally duplicate instance of node with the same IP (if device only supports one, if device only allows one for management purpose) may be useful in following use cases:
- assign different resources to respective nodes and use some account/view limitations
- assign different resources to respective nodes which may allow for more granular unmanaging
- likely you can will pick your own use case here (please comment if you do)
